Asbestos Awareness Training Courses |
|
|
|
|
| |
 |
With the Control of Asbestos
at Work Regulations
requiring adequate asbestos
awareness and/or management
training for all those who
might come into contact with
asbestos and/or with a duty
to manage it, the temptation
to outsource such training
is becoming stronger. |
|
|
Often, though, the problem
with outsourcing is that
“off the shelf” training
packages are frequently
inadequate and can fail to
address the specific issues
of concern to the client. |
| |
|
|
| |
Asbestos Consultants to the
Environment’s training is
flexible and is customised to suit
individual needs. Asbestos Awareness
and Management courses can be
designed for delivery to tradesmen
through to building managers,
surveyors and architects and each
course will address the general and
local issues important to the target
audience. |

Certificate of Achievement |
|
|
|
|
| |
At the end of all our Asbestos
Awareness and Management courses a
short, multiple-choice question (MCQ)
style test is set to ensure that
course participants have understood
the information presented to them.
Those passing the test receive a
Certificate of Achievement.
Please note that whilst we are quite
willing to issue a Certificate of
Course Attendance to anyone failing
the MCQ test, possession of such a
Certificate will not fulfil your
requirements with regard to training
as defined by the HSE. |

Technical Training for Asbestos Workers |

Coming Soon… Watch this Space!
In
addition to taking over the responsibility for
providing Asbestos Awareness and Management training
(see separate leaflet) our new Asbestos Training
Division is being established to provide the
following courses, the syllabi for which are
prescribed in legislation and published guidance by
the Health and Safety Executive (HSE): |
|
|
|
|
|
| |
- Initial and
refresher training for licensed asbestos removal
operatives and supervisors;
- Initial and refresher training for ancillary licence
holders (e.g. scaffolders);
- Initial and refresher training for unlicensed
contractors and maintenance staff working with asbestos;
-
Courses in asbestos following the British Occupational
Hygiene Society syllabi (P401 to P406, and S301) leading
to BOHS examinations.

Facilities |
|
|
|
|
| |
A
purpose-made training facility is being built at our
head office in Benfleet, Essex, to accommodate course
participants. On completion, the facility will encompass
a fully-equipped, audio-visual lecture room and a
separate, workshop area for the construction of asbestos
enclosures required as part of the syllabi for the
licensed asbestos operative and supervisor initial
training courses (as well as BOHS P406). This area will
also accommodate a fully-functional hygiene unit (DCU)
and appropriate transit routes to enable participants to
actively engage in the initial and primary
decontamination procedures required following exposure
to asbestos fibre.
Within this area will also be another pre-erected
enclosure, set up and snagged for the pre-removal
inspections required as part of the P406 (Supervision of
the Safe Removal and Disposal of Asbestos), P405
(Management of Asbestos) and licensed removal supervisor
courses. Another enclosure, again appropriately snagged,
will be available for candidates attending the P404 (Air
Sampling and Clearance Testing) course as well as those
participating on the licensed asbestos supervisor and
operatives’ courses. |

Asbestos
Consultants to the Environment Limited anticipate being
able to offer all of the above technical training
courses by mid-2006. Application has been made to the BOHS for approval and registration as a course provider
for all asbestos modules and negotiations with the HSE
leading to ACE being included on their list of
recognised training providers are expected to be
concluded soon. In the meantime, interested parties
should contact either Alex Nicoll or Sia Shahnooshi for
the latest information.
